The Village Community Development District No. 10 Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants who are interested in filling Seat 3, which was recently vacated due to the resignation of an existing Board Supervisor. The remainder of the existing four (4) year term for the vacated Seat will expire in November 2022.
Any interested applicants must be a qualified elector which is defined by Florida Statute 190 as "any person at least 18 years of age who is a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Florida and of the District, and who registers to vote with the Supervisor of Elections in the county in which the district land is located". Dear Citizens of the City of Wildwood:
I would like to introduce you to a program that the Wildwood Police Department has available to the Citizens of Wildwood. The "VIAL OF LIFE" is a program designed to provide needed information to the emergency personnel in the situation where you are unable to do so. The information provided by the "VIAL" will include medical history, medications, dosage, doctor's name, insurance provider (optional) emergency contact numbers, hospital preference, and other information.
The container or "VIAL" will be located in the REFRIGERATOR within your house. This location is selected for several reasons. It is a common appliance in homes and the contents of a refrigerator remains undamaged during a fire. Law enforcement, fire departments and emergency personnel have been trained to look for the "VIAL OF LIFE" in your refrigerator.
Please take these Form(s)and complete one for each member in your household. Try to provide as much detailed information as possible on the medical history and medications. Use the back of the form if extra space is needed. Place the forms in the Vial and place it on the TOP SHELF of your refrigerator. Place one of the BLUE decals on your refrigerator door and one near the front door area of your residence. Remember to update the information on your forms when your medications or health changes. The District Boards adopted an updated Holiday Decoration Policy to allow Gate Houses and Village / Villa entry sign walls to be decorated by resident groups. This excludes postal stations. Prior to installation, residents must submit a design to District Property Management at 1026 Canal Street, The Villages or email PropertyManagement@districtgov.org and sign the Activity Release of Liability. Water Retention Areas
Did you know that many of the water retention areas in our community are connected through various inlets and pipes? In addition to storm water, everything that enters the storm water pipes can end up in the water retention areas throughout our community. This includes trash, leaves, fertilizer, soap from washing vehicles, animal droppings and more.
Please help us ensure the health and continued maintenance of the water retention basins throughout The Villages by not placing ANYTHING in any of the storm water drains. Our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit does not allow dumping into these storm drain systems.

On January 11, 2021, the Individual Project Order Number 3 and associated Task Order KHIPO-3 submitted by Kimley-Horn & Associates for the Morse Island Shoreline Stabilization was approved by the Project Wide Advisory Committee. Please click the header of this announcement for more information.
Under a prior IPO, the District retained Kimley-Horn to prepare design recommendations, permit plans and applications for repair procedures for the shoreline stabilization. Those recommendations are contained in the Kimley-Horn report titled "Morse Boulevard Lake Sumter Slope Stability Analysis", dated July 11, 2016. Subsequent to that assignment, in 2019 Kimley-Horn prepared a design update to consider a new stabilization option, as described below. The District endorsed that option (generally known as the "Geotextile Option"). Under this Agreement, Kimley-Horn will update the prior design plans and permits, update regulatory permits as necessary, and assist with bidding and construction phase support services including
Construction Plans and Permitting - Kimley-Horn will update the previously prepared construction plans, which considered a different stabilization option. The previous plans were completed to "Permit Set" status. Further development of the plans is needed for bidding and construction.
Bidding and Construction Phase Services - Kimley-Horn will provide bidding and construction phase support for the Project.

Morse Boulevard Lake Sumter Island Slope Stability Analysis
On Monday, August 1, 2016 the Project Wide Advisory Committee (PWAC) held a meeting that included a presentation and review of a Slope Stability Analysis performed by Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA) for the Lake Sumter island embankment on Morse Boulevard. The goal and objective of the analysis was to hault and prevent further erosion along the perimeter of the embankment during average conditions, and offer engineered options that were aesthetically pleasing that require minimal maintenance. The analysis did not include the Morse Boulevard bridge over Lake Sumter, and there is no evidence of issues with the structure.
The review included work performed by a sub-contracted geo-technical engineering firm who conducted extensive soil borings to thoroughly evaluate the slope of the island based on previous sloughing that occurred. Their findings concluded that the existing slope exceeded the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) minimum factor of safety for permanent slopes.
In conjunction with the information received from the geo-technical engineer, KHA further evaluated water depth, wind speed/direction, and wave height to conclude that erosion was occurring as a result of repetitive wave action during average weather conditions. KHA Engineers in attendance at the meeting presented three options to the PWAC to mitigate further erosion on the island embankment:
1. Rock Revetment structure fill and plantings
a. Highest construction cost ($1.47 Mil.); permanent solution with lowest anticipated maintenance.
2. Living shoreline with a toe protection breakwater structure
a. High construction cost ($1 Mil.); ongoing maintenance required.
3. Placement of additional coarse sediment fill with native plantings
a. Lowest construction cost ($520,000); highest recurring maintenance and least likely to address erosion as compared to option 1 and
The PWAC had extensive discussions regarding the options and the desire for a long-term solution that required minimal ongoing maintenance. Based on the review and information provided, and audience input, the PWAC directed staff to work with KHA to develop information to proceed with a rock revetment, option 1. Additional information will be presented at a future meeting.

Please help the wildlife by keeping them wild! Feeding wildlife can do more harm than good for both people and wildlife. Wildlife can adapt to living on golf courses and neighborhoods when its natural habitat is developed. Feeding wildlife may cause them to become dependent on handouts and lose their natural fear of people, causing injury to people on rare occasions. Community Watch and local law enforcement officials have teamed up in a safety initiative to prevent golf carts and other vehicles from driving and parking on our sidewalks and other unauthorized areas. Not only is it in violation of District Rules, but driving and parking on the sidewalks is also extremely dangerous for our residents and guests enjoying a casual stroll through the community. Have you noticed the traffic cones that have been placed along our sidewalks at handicapped access points on the squares? The cones were placed there originally to discourage vehicles from parking on our sidewalks. In the first phase of our initiative, Community Watch began removing the existing traffic cones. Community Watch is now placing red and black "WARNING" signs on vehicles parked in unauthorized areas. The warnings reference District Rules and are designed to educate vehicle operators of their parking infractions.
Community Watch partnered with law enforcement in the second phase of the initiative to attempt to identify and notify owners of vehicles parked in violation of the District Rules. Owners are given the opportunity to move their vehicles. As a last resort, drivers of vehicles repeatedly parked in violation of the District Rules may be prohibited access to any District property. We hope this action is not required, but the safety of our residents and guests must be assured.Please be aware that there are also areas in The Villages in which there is only pedestrian and golf cart access. The Mulberry Dog Park is only accessible by pedestrians and golf carts. If you would like to drive your vehicle, please visit the Paradise Dog Park or the Brinson-Perry Dog Park.
